Joshua D. West - Attorney at Law

Mr. West was appointed to my son's trespassing case. My son was inquiring about a job posted at a public building when two days later an Oakland County Sherriff came to our home to give him a ticket ranting about "How he ( my son) was not going to be working at the building. Mr. West did not show up or contact us that the hearing date had been moved to the next day, so we had to go back the next day and Mr. West was hours late; he did not give a care about wasting our time the day before or the hours we waited for him. He took my son in a room alone and talked him out of his rights to a jury trial, when we left the courtroom Mr. West was extremely rude to me when I ask why he talked my son out of a jury; he just stood there with a smirk on his face like he was so proud of talking an innocent young man out of his constitutional rights. Mr. West called to make an appointment 5 days before the trial; this was the first contact with him after he was appointed by the court; nearly a month later and then canceled it an hour before the meeting. He stated the only witness for the prosecution couldn't make it to the trial so he adjourned it instead of attempting to have the case dismissed. Mr. West never called to confirm that the trial was delayed;so we had to go to court anyway when we got home Mr. West did leave a message 30 minutes before the trial was supposed to start. Mr. West refused to call any witness for my son or do any discovery and the without any prior indication decided to withdraw as counsel at the trial! He abandoned his client at the very last moment, while prosecutors still weren't ready to present their case, had no witness to testify and have no physical evidence that a crime was committed and prosecutors had 7 months to prepare for this trial. This Mr. West is part of the problem in the justice system, it people like him that must be replaced. As a taxpayer having the opportunity to audit how our tax money is wasted by people like, Mr. West; while citizens rights are being violated in the court system, I am appalled! Mr. West gets his paycheck from the taxpayers, he is paid to protect the constitutional rights of the citizen yet he treats citizens as if that constitution doesn't even exist. This experience with my son has been a gross violation of his 6th amendment rights. If your looking for a hardworking, diligent and concerned attorney to defend you; Look elsewhere, Mr. West was a complete waste of time, did not care at all about his client and bent over backward to assist the prosecutor with delay after delay as our time slipped away, as the emotional and physiological trauma of being charged with a crime that you did not commit erodes your personality and cause harms to your self worth, Mr. West is smirking thinking he did a good job. He is a disgrace to the practice of law and to the citizen of Oakland County and should not be able to represent Public Defenders. Update 3 3 26:Mr. West, my review describes my family’s direct experience with your representation in my son’s case. You remain to be mis- leading, unaccountable for your actions, unaware of the damage and consequences your clients suffer do to your mis representation; 8 yrs later you have no growth in consciousness, humanity or professionalism - you were the third attorney appointed once you accepted the appointment you had a responsibility to represent your client with diligence and preparation instead you abandoned, mislead and left him to defend himself at a bench trial, that you convinced him in agreeing to instead of a jury- he did file a lawsuit in an attempt to expose the corruption, constitutional violations and Equal employment discrimination he faced within the 52 District Novi court when interference began after he applied for a employment opportunity- that one was dismissed... the Federal Lawsuit I filed Ayers vs. Enviro-clean was victorious, my son was paid a settlement, and he was acquitted of the bogus trespassing charge. You claim 1000s of satisfied clients, yet only 19 reviews after years of practice- speaks for itself.

I really don’t understand why this attorney has such a low rating on this site, because I cannot recommend Joshua West highly enough. From the very beginning, he was professional, knowledgeable, and extremely dedicated to my case. He took the time to explain every step of the process, answered all my questions, and made sure I clearly understood my options. What really stood out was his strategic thinking and confidence in the courtroom. Thanks to his expertise and hard work, we were able to achieve a successful outcome in my case. During a very stressful time, having someone so capable and committed on my side made a huge difference. If you are looking for a criminal attorney who truly cares about his clients and fights for the best possible result, I highly recommend him.
