I had a very concerning experience with Aileen F. Lang while she was acting as a Guardian ad Litem in my case. Before even entering the courtroom, she approached me in an aggressive and accusatory manner, claiming I had been ignoring her attempts to contact me. After asking multiple times, I learned she had incorrect contact information for me, including both my phone number and address. When I pointed this out, she dismissed it and stated that it “didn’t matter” because the case would be dismissed anyway. This gave the impression that she had already formed an opinion about the outcome before hearing the facts, which is very troubling for someone in a role that is supposed to remain neutral and act in the best interests of a child. Her demeanor throughout the interaction was unprofessional and intimidating. After the hearing, she even attempted to take back a business card she had already given me, which escalated the situation further. As a mother dealing with a stressful and sensitive situation involving my child’s safety, I expected professionalism, fairness, and basic respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that future clients are treated with the professionalism and care they deserve. This incident has been reported to the Virginia State Bar as well.
