I called this Texas firm from Maine seeking an attorney to help with a lithium/mineral rights lease. I was referred to Attorney James Carroll. I never spoke with him, but with his secretary who said Atty Carroll had at least 50 such leases he'd done in such matters, and if I hired him I'd pay $1500 for him to just look at his bank of done leases and find one appropriate to me. Then he'd charge $450/hr after picking the right lease for me. I had a number of questions, as this is all new to me, but was never able to speak to the atty at all, not even for a paid consultation. Furthermore, I have 2 siblings and 2 cousins who've received the exact same bonus offer and lease I have and who might want his services too. Given what he did for me would be exactly what he'd do for my sibs and cousins, I figured they wouldn't have to pay all that much, but maybe $500 each. However, when I left a message about this, the secretary called back and said what the attorney did for me he didn't want me sharing with anyone else, so he was essentially asking me to sign a non-disclosure contract. I found the interaction with this firm uncomfortable. I came away thinking the attorney was arrogant and not interested in my business.
