Burkhead Criminal Defense

I highly discourage anyone from hiring Mr. Burkhead. My experience with him was incredibly damaging, both professionally and personally, due to what I believe was a severe lack of engagement and a conflict of interest. To start, he made it explicitly clear that he was personal friends with the opposing counsel. This friendship seemed to heavily influence his defense—or complete lack thereof. Despite providing him with hundreds of pages of documented evidence that clearly proved my innocence, he barely engaged with me. Crucially, he never submitted my evidence to the judge or to the opposing counsel. Because of his failure to present my evidence, the opposing counsel successfully utilized reactive abuse posts (created after I was served with a fraudulent Domestic Violence Restraining Order) to justify their case. Mr. Burkhead never fought to correct this or defend me against DARVO tactics (Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender). Furthermore, I explicitly informed him that I am not a California resident and that California lacked personal jurisdiction over me—a threshold issue that should have been used to dismiss the case entirely. He completely ignored this legal defense. To make matters worse, after losing the case, Mr. Burkhead explicitly defended the judge’s heavily biased ruling, which was based entirely on personal feelings rather than facts. He promised to follow up with me regarding critical next steps but completely ghosted me and never reached out again. When I reached out to Mr. Burkhead after hearing nothing for weeks his only concern was whether I was going to finish paying him or not. Mr. Burkhead's total failure to review my documentation and defend my case resulted in a fraudulent restraining order being granted against me, protecting the actual abusers. Because of this order, I am legally barred from being within 300 feet of the naval base where I worked. His lack of defense has cost me my ability to fight for my job, my professional livelihood, and immense financial and emotional distress. If you want an attorney who will actually read your evidence, fight for your rights, and prioritize your case over their professional friendships, look elsewhere.
