Coming from someone that beat Lithia Motors in Oregon Small Claims Court: I was intimidated by Hershner Hunter along the way who represents Lithia Motors, specifically Todd Johnston. They will mail you intimidating and misleading information about your rights. Make sure to read the portion of your arbitration agreement that ALLOWS you to take Lithia Motors to court via small claims, as you are allowed too, but Mr. Johnston will send you a letter saying you are not. Don’t back down from these guys. You can and will win, just like I did.

I was recommended to this law firm by a family friend (who’s also a lawyer) i received phenomenal representation and an overall amazing experience working with Sally C. Finding a good lawyer in this day and age is extremely important so when we have a good experience with one we don’t take it lightly. We have also been informed of similar experiences from other previous clients since our dissolution with Hershner Hunter. We retained Carrie L. Hellwig Christopher with Hershner Hunter, LLP to fight for our business’s intellectual property that was being stolen. Initially, Carrie offered a free consultation and informed us that we had a good legal standing to fight on. Shortly after a deposit was made for a retainer, communication became few and far between. Weeks would go by without any updates or communication, when we initiated contact we were met with phone meetings that resulted in Carrie claiming “I will need to do some research”. During this time of little discovery or legal advisory, monthly invoices from Hershner Hunter were showing up in the mail. Towards the end of our engagement, it took Carrie 5+ weeks to respond in which she said “I am turning my attention back to this matter” but could not provide any updates nor was there ever a mention that our case would be delayed over such a long span. I became wary that any research that we were paying $450 an hour for would be forgotten and duplicated due to the many week hiatus that was never communicated. Several thousands of dollars and 4 months lost later, we cut ties with Hershner Hunter and had little to no work to show for it. Beware.

Got charged double the amount of time for a single phone call. I have never paid for consult call before. It is not stated anywhere on their website nor through email that the second you contact them you become a chargeable client. They were very subtle at asking for an address at the very end of the 24 minute call to send a $263 bill. Do not recommend. If that’s how they make their money through consult calls, good luck.
