Disappointing Experience. Poor Communication and Lack of Professional Follow-Through. My experience with Rachel Camber, a senior partner at Markowitz Ringel Trusty + Hartog, was extremely disappointing. On October 6, Rachel acknowledged receiving documentation concerning a time-sensitive commercial financial dispute. On October 14, I provided additional information involving a significant development in the case that warranted legal review. Despite having the materials for over two weeks, and despite an agreed deadline of October 21, I received no substantive response, no explanation, and not even the courtesy of a status update. When I followed up on the agreed deadline, I was informed that Rachel had already left for the day. I understand that attorneys are busy and manage competing priorities. What I find unacceptable is making a commitment and then failing to communicate when that commitment cannot be honored. As a business owner, I deal with deadlines, clients, and professional obligations every day. Accountability and communication are not extraordinary expectations. They are the bare minimum. I cannot evaluate the quality of the firm's legal representation because I never received the substantive assessment I was seeking. What I can evaluate is my experience with its responsiveness and professionalism. An attorney's time is valuable, but so is a client's. Professional courtesy should not require repeated follow-ups. Unfortunately, my experience did not inspire the confidence I would expect when entrusting a law firm with an important business matter.
