I spoke with Mr. Marten on October 27, at 5:33pm regarding an unresolved family-law matter with my parenting plan. I was looking for someone to listen and help me understand where things stood, but I left the conversation feeling dismissed and unheard. There are unusual circumstances surrounding my case, including some confusion about the procedural history and the status of certain orders. I was upfront about that confusion. In fact, that was part of the reason I was seeking legal counsel in the first place: I wanted someone who could help me understand what had happened and properly resolve what remained unfinished. However, after Mr. Marten reviewed the docket, I felt interrupted and spoken to as though I was being contradictory rather than being given the opportunity to explain a complicated three-year history. I don't expect an attorney to agree with me, tell me what I want to hear, or take my case. I do expect respectful communication and a fair opportunity to explain why I'm seeking help. Unfortunately, I did not feel that I was given that opportunity during this interaction.
