I have been a client of Mr. Weitz for several years dating back to other firms that he has been affiliated with. I am connected to the Real Estate industry both professionally & as a private investor and have used Mr. Weitz as a resource for different situations where I needed legal help. Each time I have found the process to be smooth, straightforward, with the end outcomes being exactly as we had planned. I would recommend The Weitz Firm to anyone in the need of their services, without hesitation.

This attorney was referred to us to help with an encroachment, and since we wanted a real estate attorney and we trusted the referral, we chose to use the attorney, but I do not recommend his services. I felt like I had to reach out nearly every time to get a response , and had to request all correspondence to be sent to me, and he sometimes answered without checking with us first, and while Weitz said email was the best form of contact, days would go by between responses and there were emails and texts that were not responded to. It took a long four months to get resolved, and in the end we had to reach out to one of the neighbors ourself to resolve a final issue without Weitz’s assistance I provided extensive details about our issues along with an updated survey showing encroachments. When I reviewed the initial demand letters, I saw that the attorney had drafted a demand letter to the wrong neighbor. He asked for a phone call for clarification, and then charged me for the phone call. We had to send a second demand letter to one neighbor and he gave a deadline. On the day of the deadline, I asked for an update but did not hear back. I reached out the next day for a phone call to discuss next steps, and he emailed me that he had not heard back by the deadline and we discussed what to do. He advised us to go talk to the neighbor in person (we hired him so we would not have to). We decided to wait and the following week, Weitz called to let us know that he had heard from the neighbor’s attorney. I asked for a copy of the letter from the attorney, and it had the tracking information that showed the letter had been sent on time and delivered and received by Weitz on the day of the deadline, and that phone call and correspondence the following day should never have happened, but he charged us for the call anyway. In another instance Weitz sent correspondence to our other neighbor, whose issue we had already resolved, after we told him via email not to and he charged us for that as well. Weitz required a three hour retainer up front, and while I advised that we had not used an attorney before, and didn’t know how everything worked, he didn’t provide any insight. He sent us a May invoice in June, and then we never got another statement until we told him we were done with his services and had resolved the final issue on our own, and then he presented us with a July/August statement wanting additional payment. Several days later the June statement came in and we were able to see where the rest of our retainer had been allocated. Due to the several errors and calls that ended up occurring due to the errors, and the fact that he sent an email that we requested him not to, and he charged for all this, we requested that he waive the additional charges, as a compromise even though we felt he really should’ve returned some of the retainer. He responded that he “was not willing to reduce his invoices. I’m sorry but I did the work so the total balance will need to be paid.” This was a very frustrating experience, and I feel that it was unethical of Weitz to charge us for his mistakes and for emails that we requested not be sent. We felt like we were never a priority and had to chase all our answers. Don’t repeat our mistake.
