I am leaving this review regarding attorney Courtney Waits and my experience with her conduct in a family court matter involving my child's medical expenses. Attorney Waits filed a Motion to Dismiss stating that the parties' Parenting Plan required both parents to share child-related expenses equally. However, the Judgment of Dissolution of Marriage entered by the court specifically provides that my ex-husband is responsible for 100% of our child's medical expenses. I found this characterization of the court order to be inaccurate and misleading. As a result, I was forced to spend additional time, effort, and resources responding to the motion and addressing what I believe was an incorrect representation of the court's order. Attorneys are expected to accurately represent the contents of court orders and legal documents. The motion did not accurately reflect the terms of the judgment governing responsibility for medical expenses. As a result of this experience, I filed a complaint with the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel (OCDC) for review. I believe prospective clients should be aware of this issue when evaluating the legal services provided by this attorney.
