I knew ahead of time that this would be a disaster and that I'd lose $250 for a 'consultation fee.' The text response I received back just stated a consultation price which should have been an instant red flag. I never could have imagined that it would be that bad. Two dogs greeted me at the front entrance along with a young lady in a studded t-shirt. It was a Friday, but that might be taking 'casual Friday' to the extreme. At least she had a personality. I met with Honkanen and he had no time for me (even though our appointment was scheduled ahead of time) concerning a fencing issue. He kept pontificating on his 'upcoming trial on Monday.' Yeah. I don't care about that. Let's discuss my reason for being there. While he was doing other activities, I looked around his office and he apparently dabbles in artwork as well. The entire conversation lasted about 25 minutes. It was a real 'interesting' law office and Honkanen made up a retainer fee of $15,000. He simply didn't want to take the case and he apparently was too focused on his artwork and upcoming trial. His dress, mannerisms, and demeanor were terrible and I kept thinking the entire time, "What a waste of $250." You know what his last piece of advice was to the family? "You can always just move." Thanks. We'll get back to you. It should be noted that two days later I discussed my 'lawyer consultation' with friends. They gasped when I mentioned his name. He ripped me off legally. Don't let him do it to you too.
